About this place
Among the commercial towers of Nihonbashi, Cafe TOYO preserves the relaxed, nostalgic rhythm of Japan's Showa era. Spanning a cafe space on the 1st floor and a restaurant dining area on the 2nd floor, the roomy interior offers plentiful seating—making it just as convenient for a quiet solo meal as it is for an afternoon pause between errands.
The food menu centers on comforting, satisfying classics from the yoshoku (Japanese Western-style) canon. The Australian steak, accompanied by salad and rice, is an enduring lunchtime fixture featuring aromatic seared beef. Diners also gravitate toward generous combination plates like the platter-style dry curry garnished with fried shrimp, or the German-style rice accented with rich demi-glace sauce.
Teatime visitors find a broad array of vintage confections. Freshly made cakes such as the subtly tangy fromage blanc, strawberry shortcake, and chestnut mont blanc pair naturally with a smooth, low-acidity blended coffee. Parfaits layered with chocolate and banana, fluffy pancakes, and bowls of traditional anmitsu round out the offerings, providing plenty of sweet excuses to linger in this historic corner of Nihonbashi.
